Cavalier cargo ship christening. Bottle being smashed in 1938 on the cargo ship Cavalier. This launch, by the sponsor, is taking place at the Pusey and Jones shipyard on the Christina River at Wilmington, Delaware, USA. Built for the Philadelphia and Norfolk Steamship Company, the ship went through a number of name changes before being scrapped in 1966. This photograph is part of a collection from the Pusey and Jones Corporation on the history of shipping and shipyards.
