Description
Gloomy Sundays is based on a story of a woman that sat for artists on Sundays as she had no family and no one who cared about her - hence the rather gloomy appearance of this work. Textural, semi-rough, aged and now cracked, her image is like an engraving into a stone wall. Forever sad. - Based on an authentic black and white reference image [paid for rights to use] - no part of that image is a part of this work, and watermarks do not appear on your prints.

This work resonates for me on so many levels. I appreciate your sharing in the description and the work carries through emotionally. It's beautiful Zeana. I love the art deco period and even the Art Nouveau that preceded it although I can see that compared to the lovely deep moods of your work, mine is happily rather superficial. It's been said that we are in intrigued by the period just before the one we are born into and that seems to work for me as I was born in 1932 - the depths of the not so Great depression. What do you think of that theory?
