Description
Ryals Law Building, on the campus of Mercer University, once housed the university's School of Law--established in 1873. Mercer Law School, the university's second oldest school, is one of the oldest Schools of Law in the United States. The Ryals building sits amidst Mercer's historic Old Quad. The heavy wood doors, stonework and brick evoke the feel of old English academic architecture. Today, Mercer's Walter F. George School of Law sits on Coleman Hill, with a majestic view of Macon, Georgia.
I was immediately drawn to this door during my first visit to Mercer's campus, and pictured the final image in rich black and white to capture the grandeur of the heavy wooden doors and the serious pursuit of legal knowledge that once took place inside.
